What this site is

Three Rivers Home Water is a question-and-answer site for people who own or rent a home in Fort Wayne and the rest of Allen County. Each page takes one question, such as is Fort Wayne water hard? or does my house have a lead service line?, answers it in the first sentence, and then shows the figures and rules behind that answer.

The name comes from the three rivers that meet in Fort Wayne: the St. Joseph, the St. Marys and the Maumee. The topics follow the water through a house, from the tap and the softener to the well, the basement drain, the frozen pipe and the water heater.

What this site is not

This site is run separately from Fort Wayne City Utilities and from the city's Three Rivers Filtration Plant, which shares the rivers' name. It is not a utility, not a plumber, and not a city, county or state agency, and it has no affiliation with any of them. When a page quotes City Utilities, it links the utility's own report or page so you can read the original.

The site doesn't sell services, take bookings, or list, rate or rank plumbers or contractors. Where a job calls for a professional, a page says so in general terms and points to the state's license lookup.

This web address once held an unrelated 2013 directory site. That directory has no connection to this site, its owners or its content.

Who owns it

Three Rivers Home Water has the same owners as two water-treatment stores, SoftPro Water Systems and Quality Water Treatment. A small number of pages about softeners, filters and well treatment link those stores' products. Which pages, and the rules those links follow, are set out on the ownership and store links page.

How to use the answers

Start with the question closest to yours, read the first sentence, then check the date. Every local number carries the report and year it came from, and every page shows when it was last updated. The how we answer questions page explains where the figures come from and what is deliberately left out.

The answers are general information. For anything involving gas, electrical, sewer or pressure systems, read the terms and hire a licensed professional.
