Using the answers
You are welcome to read, print and share these pages for your own use. Each answer is written for a typical Fort Wayne or Allen County home and is based on the reports, rules and manuals it links, as explained on how we answer questions. Your house, water supply, insurance policy or local rules may differ from the typical case.
Not professional advice
Nothing on this site is plumbing, legal, insurance or health advice. Pages quote laws, codes and utility rules, but a quotation is not a ruling on your situation: the agency that enforces the rule, your building department or a lawyer can answer that. Questions about your coverage belong with your insurer, and questions about your health belong with your doctor or the health department.
Safety first
Work on gas lines, electrical circuits, sewer lines or pressure systems such as water heaters and well tanks belongs with a licensed professional. Even where Indiana law lets an owner-occupant do their own plumbing, as covered in can I do my own plumbing in Indiana?, codes and permits still apply. If you smell gas, see water coming from a relief valve pipe or have sewage in the basement, stop and get qualified help.
Prices and products
Eight pages mention products from SoftPro Water Systems and Quality Water Treatment, which share this site's owners; the ownership page lists them. Any price shown is the store's listed price on the date the page gives, and it can change at any time. Check the store's current price before you buy. Product descriptions are the store's own claims unless a certifier's listing is named.
Accuracy
Pages are checked against their sources and dated, but no warranty is made that every figure is current or complete. When an error is found, the page is corrected and its updated date changes. Rules and reports change each year, so check the linked source before acting on a number.
Changes
These terms may be updated as the site changes. The current version is always the one on this page.
